Beating your rival on their home floor is a pretty sweet accomplishment in college basketball. But for Michigan State, things were even better. And the Spartans couldn’t contain their excitement.
Michigan State posted a 77-70 win over Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday, and now sits atop the B1G standings all alone. The Spartans also snapped the Wolverines’ 22-game home winning streak.
So yeah, there’s plenty of reason to go crazy in the locker room at Crisler Arena. The Spartans did exactly that, and head coach Tom Izzo joined right in.

Michigan State now controls its own destiny when it comes to the B1G regular season title. That’s got to be a great feeling.
The two teams will go head to head to close out the season on March 9 at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. Michigan State still has games against Indiana and Nebraska before the season finale.
But, for now, the Spartans are celebrating a huge win over their in-state rival.
