Senior defensive tackle Tracy Sprinkle was named a starter last year. However, Sprinkle ruptured his patella tendon in the season opener.
Despite the injury, Sprinkle stayed with the team and worked hard to get healthy. That work ethic earned him the right to be called one of the nine captains for Ohio State in 2017.
Head coach Urban Meyer started a tradition when one Buckeye achieves something within the program, one coaches calls that player’s family to let them know the good news.
Since Sprinkle earned the title “captain”, defensive line coach Larry Johnson called Sprinkle’s family and the Buckeyes’ Twitter account released the video of it. The reaction was priceless.
That moment when you call your family to say you’ve been selected captain of The Ohio State Buckeyes. ❤️️
