It’s that time of the year.

Each fall camp, Ohio State players come in and get ready to work. They try and impress coaches to get as much playing time as possible for the season ahead.

For freshmen, this is especially true. And at Ohio State, freshmen aren’t true Buckeyes when they first walk through the door. They have to get their black stripes removed off their helmets. It’s a tradition in Columbus.

Ryan Day, the first-year head coach, is sticking with the black stripe tradition, and on Thursday afternoon, it was announced that Bryson Shaw got his black stripe removed.

Aside from Shaw, two other freshmen Buckeyes got good news:

Steele Chambers is one of the Buckeyes who received the honor on Thursday and Chambers is a 4-star athlete recruit from the Class of 2019 according to 247Sports. Also, Noah Potter got his black stripe removed and he ranks as a 4-star strong-side defensive end prospect.

Ohio State’s entire 2019 recruiting class can be found here.
