WATCH: Ty Johnson proves to be a matchup nightmare with nice TD snag

Ty Johnson is proving to be a tough matchup for defenders in preseason NFL action.
The ex-Maryland running back is now with the Detroit Lions. He put up nearly 3,000 yards of offense while with the Terrapins, and he flashed his versatility out of the backfield on this touchdown.

He ran what was a pretty simple wheel route out of the backfield while down in the red zone. However, the linebacker was caught up in coverage and could not keep up with Johnson down the sideline. Quarterback Matt Stafford placed a nice throw over Johnson’s shoulder that he reeled in for the score.
It looks like the Lions will try to maximize his versatility:
