At a program like Ohio State, it’s the four-star and five-star recruits that everyone likes to talk about. Someone on the roster is a Heisman candidate every year and there’s a plethora of NFL talent from top to bottom.
But there are other key players who can make a key impact on the program over time. Those are the players Urban Meyer wanted to talk about briefly.
In a short video, Meyer talked about the impact that walk-on players can make on Ohio State’s football program. He knows that, while not highly-touted, they are essential pieces that help make the program what it is.
He highlighted that in the video below.

The Buckeyes tend to bring in a top five recruiting class every single season and ship out some of the top players in college football. So it’s nice to see the accomplished head coach point out that it takes more than blue-chips to maintain a well-established program.
A few walk-on athletes have already made an impact for Ohio State this season and will likely continue to that throughout the year.
