Urban Meyer was pretty tight-lipped at his weekly press conference on Monday. While the Ohio State head coach met with the media, you could tell his focus was solely on “That Team Up North.”

Meyer was asked several questions about this weekend’s rivalry bout between the Buckeyes and Michigan, and on several occasions, the head coach provided a brief response. That’s not too unusual for Meyer, but he seemed to trim his answers even thinner on Monday.

One of the questions Meyer did elaborate on was whether or not everybody on his roster, particularly the kids from out of state, were aware of the magnitude of “The Game.”

“This rivalry isn’t a one week deal,” Meyer said. “I just think it’s in your blood, it’s in your DNA, and to say everyone understands that right now? I don’t think so.

“I would say the ones that are playing have a pretty good indication.”

Later, Meyer was asked how he personally felt about the rivalry. The head coach, having grown up a fan of Ohio State, takes this game as serious as anyone.

“I can’t imagine many more having more respect for this rivalry,” Meyer said. “We’re talking about laser focus, now. Everything you got.”

Meyer also talked about he never missed an Ohio State-Michigan game, even when he was coaching at other programs. That’s just how important this game is to him.
