Penn State refuses to slow down on the recruiting trail. A successful summer somehow got even better on Thursday.
The Nittany Lions raked in another pledge this week, this time from 4-star athlete Cristian Driver. He is the son of Green Bay Packers legendary receiver and 14-year NFL veteran Donald Driver. The younger Driver made his announcement on CBS Sports.
Driver is expected to play either at safety or wide receiver at Penn State. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete is ranked as the No. 210 overall prospect in the 2022 class, per 247Sports Composite.
Penn State is now up to 23 verbal pledges in the class.
Driver played both safety and wide receiver during his sophomore season in high school and is capable of adding depth to either position once in Happy Valley. He adds great versatility to the recruiting class for James Franklin.
More than 40 programs extended an offer to Driver. He picked the Nittany Lions over Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M and USC, among others. He took his only recruiting visit in June to Penn State.
Penn State’s 2022 class ranks second in the nation currently, behind only Ohio State. They have 14 commits with a 4-star ranking.
