Illinois’ dream season came to an end on Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. The Fighting Illini dropped a 71-58 contest to Loyola Chicago in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, becoming the first No. 1 seed to fall in March Madness.

Cameron Krutwig was the star for the Ramblers, scoring 19 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and getting 5 assists in the win. Lucas Williamson and Marquise Kennedy each scored 15 points to help Loyola Chicago advance.

Kofi Cockburn had a strong day for Illinois, scoring 21 points and collecting 9 boards. But lack of production from Ayo Dosunmu (9 points) and Trent Frazier (2 points) really hindered the Fighting Illini.

After the game, Brad Underwood talked with the media about the loss. It was obviously a heartbreaking way for the season to end, but the head coach didn’t want this game to take away from all the team accomplished throughout the year.

Illinois ended the season 24-7 and won the B1G Tournament last weekend.

Here’s what Underwood had to say after the game:
