Purdue coach Jeff Brohm had a lot of updates to provide on himself and his program following the Boilermakers’ upset victory over Iowa in Week 1.

Concerning his COVID-19 diagnosis, Brohm said he hopes to be cleared to return to the facility by Wednesday and plans to coach Purdue’s Week 2 game vs. Illinois.

Because he wasn’t able to be on the sidelines over the weekend, Brohm said he watched the game at his home but sent his family to the stadium. As you might expect, the family dog was uncomfortable with this set up.

Unfortunately, Brohm has had to deal with a few symptoms from COVID-19 but says he’s feeling well enough to get back to the team.

On the Rondale Moore front, Brohm didn’t reveal much. The Purdue star WR missed last week’s game due to an undisclosed reason, and Brohm didn’t shed any light on whether or not he would be back this week.

“Whenever he’s ready to play, he’ll play,” Brohm said.

Brohm also said grad transfer linebacker Tyler Coyle will be out for “an extended stretch.” He didn’t play vs. Iowa. He also provided injury updates on running back King Doerue and offensive lineman Cam Craig.

Special teams coach Marty Biagi is expected back for the Illinois game as well.

Brohm said he was impressed with receiver Milton Wright in the season-opener. Wright caught seven passes for 85 yards and gave the Hawkeye defense a legitimate threat to deal with other than David Bell.

Purdue and Illinois will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
