Nebraska is now 2-5, a 24-17 loss to Minnesota the latest disappointment in a season filled with underwhelming performances. After a win last week over Purdue, many were expecting more from the Huskers.
In their third season under Frost, Nebraska is now 11-20. The Cornhuskers haven’t had a winning record yet under Frost.
Nebraska amassed just 308 yards of total offense against Minnesota. They turned the ball over twice and held possession for just 24:12. There is just one game left in the season, with the Huskers awaiting to hear who they will play in Week 9, also labeled as “Champions Week.”
Here is what Frost said after the loss to Minnesota:
Scott Frost: "I thought we were ready to play. We just didn't execute very well."
Said NU needed to get ahead of Minnesota, and didn't.

Frost: "I hate to even say this…but we had our best week of practice offensively since maybe I've been here."

Frost said he might have called one drive differently – the one where NU threw it on 1st and 2nd down, and had 3rd and 10. (Perhaps that last drive of the 3rd quarter.)

Scott Frost: "It's disappointing. I'm hurting for the kids. I love the team… I love these kids for the fight they have in them." The third-year coach said the problem today had nothing to do with effort or energy in practice. It was an excellent week, he said.

Frost: "I loved our gameplan going in and thought we had some guys open. … It's just got to be consistency. You've got to hit the majority of them and you've got to protect."
