Week 0 didn’t go Nebraska’s way, even after they got off to a great start in the first quarter. The Cornhuskers ended up losing 30-22 to Illinois and with that, start the season out 0-1.
Scott Frost’s record with the program also dropped to a lowly 12-21 in his first 3+ seasons here as his current win percentage is below .400.
Quarterback Adrian Martinez also had a rough day, even though he did showcase his talent a few times. He finished the game with 232 yards passing on 16 completions with 1 touchdown pass but was plagued by the fumble he lost.
Here’s what Frost said to the media after the Cornhuskers loss:

Frost said Sevion Morrison was available today. He didn’t play.
Says the team is “much better” and “I believe in my heart we can have a special season.”

Frost also said Nebraska guessed wrong in its prep about how the Illini would defend the run.
Tried to adjust, but fell behind.
