When you’re the winner of six Super Bowl rings and have played in three more, simply getting to the biggest game in football isn’t quite as important as it used to be. When he reaches the Super Bowl, Tom Brady wants to win it.
Apparently, in the locker room after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Green Bay Packers to win the NFC championship and earn a spot in the Super Bowl, Brady had to remind one of his teammates that the work isn’t done. Bucs linebacker Lavonte David shared the hilarious story.
During a recent episode of the All Things Covered podcast, David said that one player was crying after Tampa Bay’s victory over Green Bay. But Brady didn’t think the win was anything to celebrate…or cry about.
“When I realized that it was real, when I realized that all the other stuff don’t really matter unless it’s the Super Bowl,” David said. “After we won the NFC championship, you know me, I’m all happy and s***. My first, right? I’m all geeked up.
“I guess someone was crying. I heard him [Brady]: ‘What the f*** are you crying for? We not done yet.’ …He’s right. He’s right. I had a little two tears, I wiped my s*** quick. I heard him say that, and I said, ‘I’m trippin’, man. We still got work to do.'”
Brady will be playing in his 10th Super Bowl on Sunday, as Tampa Bay takes on defending champions Kansas City. The Chiefs are the favorite to win, but Brady has been in this position before.
If Tampa Bay wins, it will be Brady’s seventh Super Bowl title.
