Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst met with the media on Monday following the Badgers’ 49-11 dismantling of Michigan over the weekend.
Despite the big win, most of Chryst’s presser was spent talking about preparations for No. 19 Northwestern:
"Looking forward to a good week of preparation. Opportunity to play against a really good Northwestern team." – Coach Chryst, hitting the cliches early

"I think they're playing well right now… I think they're running really well. Offensively they're playing really good football." – Coach Chryst, discussing Northwestern's improvements across the board

Chryst also commented on Northwestern’s stout defense. The Wildcats have allowed just three points in the second half all season long. Northwestern has the No. 5 defense in the country according to SP+.
"I think that there are really good defensive coaches in this league. There are programs that really believe in playing good defenses. We're going to be facing one this week." – Chryst, discussing the strength of the conference defensively

Northwestern’s defense has given Wisconsin fits in recent years. Despite the Badgers’ overall success, Northwestern has won three of the last six games in this series.
"You do whatever works. It has to fit against the opponent. There's a reason why we've struggled… that's the fun part of this game, it's a challenge." – Chryst discussing the struggles of the run game in years past against Northwestern

Chryst is also impressed by what he’s seen on tape of Northwestern’s offense:

Chryst did discuss freshman running back Jalen Berger, who had a team-high 15 carries for 87 yards in Wisconsin’s win over Michigan. Chryst hopes Berger can make an impact against Northwestern as well.
Paul Chryst on freshman RB Jalen Berger: "For his first action, I thought he was poised. I thought he saw things well and it was fun to get him going. I think he’s obviously earned the right to continue to get more reps."

Regarding Wisconsin’s absent players, Chryst sounded optimistic that the Badgers would get a lot of key players back for the next game:
"There's a group that will have a chance to be able to come back… hopefully it's a good week for them, it would be a good week from us as a program." – Chryst, discussing the possibility of who could be back for Saturday's contest at Northwestern
