Will Howard has no problem admitting it.

Yes, Ohio State’s senior quarterback is a big-time film junkie. And so far in 2024, all that film watching is working.

Howard has thrown for 520 yards and 4 touchdowns in the 3rd-ranked Buckeyes’ 1st 2 games of the season against Akron and Western Michigan, and most importantly Howard hasn’t thrown an interception yet to begin his Ohio State career after transferring from Kansas State.

“100 percent,” said Howard about his obsession with the film room at a Tuesday press conference. “I love watching film. I always have been. I actually this semester have class at night, and don’t tell my professor this but sometimes I watch a little film in class.”

The 22-year-old Howard is an “old” college quarterback, having spent 4 years at Kansas State before venturing to Columbus to try to win a national championship to end his collegiate career.

“I just like to watch film, every day, whatever it is,” said Howard. “I just like to wake up, watch a little bit of something. I love the game of football, and I love the chess game that it is. How much strategy goes into it, I think that’s a fun part of it. Being able to come out and have something planned for your opponent that they’re not ready for or seeing something before it happens.”

This week, Howard is undoubtedly watching a lot of film on Marshall, which travels to Ohio State for Saturday’s Week 4 collision. Howard will try to keep the Buckeyes undefeated as the Big Ten gauntlet looms.
