Will Howard is one confident guy as the clock ticks toward the NFL Draft in a few weeks.
And, really, why wouldn’t he be? The quarterback doesn’t have the flash of Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, 2 of the top signal-callers who will be selected very high later this month at the draft in Green Bay.
But Howard doesn’t need the flash because he’s got the bling.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder transferred to Ohio State for his final season after playing 4 years at Kansas State, with the specific goal of leading the Buckeyes to a national championship. After doing just that in 2024 as part of a loaded Ohio State team, Howard heads to the NFL with the maximum belief that he can do great things there, too.
And he wants everyone to know that, despite the presence of supreme talents like Ward and Sanders, he believes he’s the best quarterback in this draft. Howard reiterated that belief on Friday during an appearance on ESPN’s NFL Live.
“First and foremost, if you don’t have that belief in yourself, then what are you doing?” said Howard. “I believe I have the arm strength, the accuracy. But what sets me apart is my mind. I’ve played a lot of football and seen a lot of stuff. I feel like my ability to assess what the defense is doing is what sets me apart.”

While his glossy stats from 2024 jump off the page — 4,010 yards passing, 35 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions — that ability to thrive in the clutch during Ohio State’s national championship run cannot be denied. And Howard has no doubt he will make whatever NFL team drafts him very lucky and very thankful.
