Will Howard and the Ohio State Buckeyes had a crushing end to the 2024 season, as they lost to their biggest rival Michigan, 13-10. It was the fourth consecutive time the Buckeyes have lost The Game, leaving fans angry.

Despite that loss, there is still a ton to play for as the Buckeyes are in the College Football Playoff and have a chance to go win a national title. The Buckeyes host Tennessee on Saturday night in the marquee first-round matchup, and Howard said the team can’t allow Michigan to beat Ohio State twice.

“We can’t let them beat us twice. We can’t,” Howard said. “It’s better to use that as motivation, to come back from it, to challenge myself to be better. … You still feel it. But you have to move on from it.”

Howard had a great year in his lone season in Columbus, as he finished the regular season with 2,860 yards, 27 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He also rushed for 7 touchdowns.

The matchup against Tennessee figures to be a physical affair with 2 of the elite defenses in the entire country. The Buckeyes allow 241.1 yards per game, which is the fewest in the country. The Volunteers rank 4th in that category. Ohio State ranks 7th in stopping the run, with Tennessee right behind them at 8th.

This game could easily come down to whether or not Howard is able to make plays.
