Will Johnson’s first career interception gives Michigan 3 picks in 3rd quarter vs. Rutgers

Will Johnson and the Michigan defense came out of the half determined to flip the script against Rutgers. After the Scarlet Knights took a 3-point lead into the break, the Wolverines flipped the game on its head in the 3rd quarter.
A big part of that turnaround was a defense that produced a trio of takeaways, all of those takeaways coming via interceptions off the arm of Gavin Wimsatt.
Michael Barrett produced a pair of them — including a pick-6 — but the third came from the true freshman DB. A former 5-star prospect, Johnson soared to make the grab and came up with a huge return to set up the offense.

Michigan would take full advantage of the interception, scoring 3 plays later on a touchdown pass from JJ McCarthy to Cornelius Johnson.
As for Will Johnson, he now has his first of what looks to be many interceptions during his tenure with the Wolverines.
