Will Riley will play college basketball in the Big Ten. The 5-star prospect committed to Brad Underwood’s Illinois program on Sunday.

Riley held a commitment announcement streamed live on his Instagram account Sunday. After picking up 21 scholarship offers, Riley narrowed it down to Illinois, Alabama, Arizona, Kentucky and a New Zeland professional option.

A Canadian out of the Phelps School in Pennsylvania, Riley is currently listed at 6-8, 180 pounds. He is rated 5-stars, the No. 1 recruit in Pennsylvania, No. 3 small forward and No. 12 player overall on the 247Sports Composite for 2025. With a Composite score of .9955, Riley is Illinois’ highest-rated commitment in 20 years.

Riley, though, is set to reclassify to the Class of 2024. He’ll arrive on Illinois campus soon and be a member of the Illini’s 2024-25 squad.

The 2024-25 season will likely be Riley’s only year with the Illini. Riley is projected to be a high pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

It’s not hard to see why Riley was a 5-star recruit and is seen as a future pro. He should make an instant impact for the Illini as a scorer. Highlights of Riley with UPLAY Canada give Illinois fans a lot to be excited about.
