Winning up front: PFF believes Ohio State may have best OT tandem in CFB next season

Winning in the B1G is hard without stellar offensive line play. Ohio State shouldn’t have to worry about that next year, at least according to at least one analyst from Pro Football Focus.

Evaluating some of college football’s top offensive tackles for the upcoming 2021 college football season, PFF’s Anthony Treash recently gave some pretty high marks to a tandem in Columbus. He believes the combination of Thayer Munford and Nicholas Petit-Frere will be pretty difficult to beat.

“Ohio State might have the best tackle tandem in college football next season,” Treash said.

Munford has played in 46 career games at Ohio State and has been the starting left tackle for the Buckeyes each of the last three seasons. Having him return to Columbus was pretty big news for Ryan Day and staff.

Petit-Frere has played in 22 career games with the Buckeyes and was a starter at right tackle during the 2020 season. Paired up on the offensive line, Petit-Frere and Munford bring plenty of physicality and the experience necessary for Ohio State to make another B1G title and College Football Playoff run.

As if that wasn’t enough, PFF also considers the wide receiver tandem of Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson to be college football’s best for the upcoming season. Even with Justin Fields gone, those two should make life easy for whoever is throwing passes for OSU.
