Mordecai is entering his first season with the Badgers following a successful stint at SMU. He’s expected to have a big season under new Wisconsin offensive coordinator Phil Longo.
Mordecai threw for 7,152 yards and 72 touchdowns in 2 seasons as SMU’s quarterback. He also averaged a solid 8 yards per attempt during his time with the Mustangs.
Wisconsin’s other 3 captains are all veterans of the program. Dike is a senior who was honorable mention All-Big Ten in 2022. Njongmeta is a returning starter who is entering his redshirt senior season. Strey is entering his 6th season with the Badgers.
Wisconsin is just over 1 week away from beginning the Luke Fickell era in Madison. The Badgers have played in a bowl game at the end of every season since 2001.
The Badgers open the 2023 season against Buffalo on Sept. 2.
