Bob Bostad is back on Wisconsin’s offensive coaching staff after 5 seasons of working with the inside linebackers.
Bostad was asked at Wisconsin’s media day if his experience coaching defense might help him as an offensive line coach. He humorously said it’s all about making sure the unit does its job, otherwise the fans won’t be happy.
#Badgers Bob Bostad asked if having coached ILBs has given him a broader perspective, helped make him a better OL coach: “You know the answer to that one, right? We’ll see. If we (expletive) the bed, then people are going to go: ‘Get rid of that bum.'”

Bostad, who turns 56 next month, was Wisconsin’s inside linebackers coach from 2017-to-2021. Most of his coaching experience, however, has come working with the offensive line. Bostad was the Badgers’ offensive line coach from 2008-11, shifting over from coaching tight ends 2006-07. He held the run game coordinator all 6 seasons as well.
Bostad left Wisconsin after 2011, briefly serving as Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator before accepting an offensive line coaching position with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bostad was with the Bucs from 2012-13 and then the Tennessee Titans 2014-15. He returned to the college ranks in 2016 as Northern Illinois’ tight ends and fullbacks coach.
Prior to his initial Wisconsin stint, Bostad coached the offensive line at Cal State Northridge (1995-96), San Jose State (1997-98) and New Mexico (1999-2005).
