Wisconsin basketball decimates No. 24 Virginia at Fort Myers Tipoff

Wisconsin just thoroughly dominated the No. 24 Virginia Cavaliers to open up the Forty Myers Tip-Off.

The Badgers blew the Cavaliers out to the tune of 65-41. The Badgers shot 44.4% from 3 and shot 40.3% from the field. The Badgers more than doubled the Cavaliers’ rebounds, ending with 48 compared to Virginia’s 21.

Coming into the game, the Cavaliers had the 11th ranked defense per the KenPom rankings.

It was an all-around effort for the Badgers. Steven Crowl led the team in points with 15. Crowl and Tyler Wahl both had 10 rebounds, and Chucky Hepburn led the way with 6 assists.

Off the bench, John Blackwell contributed 10 points and 4 rebounds. The reserve guard went 4-4 on free throws and 2-3 from deep.

For the Cavaliers, Reece Beekman had 17 points, but no other player on the roster had more than 9. The Cavs will now be relegated to playing in the 3rd place game on Wednesday.

The Badgers will await the winner of West Virginia-SMU to see who they will play in the Beach Division Championship Game.
