Jack Coan is back in practice and will be available for Saturday, the Wisconsin quarterback potentially an option to play this Saturday against No. 12 Indiana.
Wisconsin, No. 18 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, struggled offensively two weeks ago in their 17-7 loss at Northwestern. While they moved the ball well, freshman quarterback Graham Mertz struggled with three interceptions. It was part of five total turnovers for the offense on a day where the unit wasn’t poor but struggled to sustain drive (3-of-16 on third down conversions).
Coan suffered right foot injury in early October and has had subsequent surgery. Mertz took over for Coan, the preseason starter, and has performed relatively well in his first three college starts.
#Badgers coach Paul Chryst confirms our report from yesterday. QB Jack Coan will dress this week. Cleared for takeoff if needed.

The Badgers are currently 2-1 and are on the outside looking in for both the Big Ten Championship Game as well as the College Football Playoff.
During the summer, Coan was named to the national watch list for both the Davey O’Brien Award (nation’s top quarterback) and the Maxwell Award (nation’s top player).
Last season, Coan threw for 2,727 yards with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions.
