Wisconsin drops intense hype video for Axe game rivalry vs. Minnesota

Wisconsin released a hype video Friday ahead of the Badgers’ intense rivalry with Minnesota.

The two teams will battle “for the Axe,” the beloved trophy given to the winner of the historic rivalry game, and the video pays homage to the Axe, showing former Wisconsin teams holding it up in the air.

“It’s always been that hate towards each other because for one it’s the longest in college football,” Wisconsin defensive tackle Keeanu Benton said in the video. “That plays a big part.”

Benton points out that the rivalry is so special because it’s not one-sided — Wisconsin is only up one game against the Golden Gophers.

Saturday’s matchup will certainly be an interesting one. Minnesota has the chance to tie the all-time matchup, but Wisconsin also has a chance to extend its lead to two games. The Badgers and Golden Gophers kick off Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
