On Wednesday night, the Wisconsin Badgers completed a flip of a talented prospect from his Michigan commitment. Jaylin Williams, a 4-star defensive lineman from Palatine, IL, took to social media to announce his decision.

Williams is rated as a 4-star prospect, the No. 28 DL in the nation, and the No. 7 prospect out of Illinois per the 247Sports Composite ranking. The 6’6″, 265-pound prospect stars for Palatine High School and originally committed to Michigan in June.

“God had a different plan Respect my decision,” said Williams.

The talented prospect has been playing on the varsity team since his freshman year. As a junior, Williams earned All-State and All-Conference honors and frequently overpowered his high school competition. The lineman also excels in track and field, earning All-Conference honors in that sport as well as a junior.

Williams is a huge addition for the Badgers. The school now has the No. 25 class for 2025, with 7 4-stars currently committed for next season.  The Badgers also finished with the No. 25 class in 2024 and finished with the No. 40 class in 2023. Williams is the first 4-star DL to pledge to the Badgers for 2025.

Before originally committing to Michigan, Williams received interest from Oregon, Purdue, Ohio State, Indiana, and others. The prospect committed to Michigan in June after visiting campus. However, Williams visited Tennessee, Nebraska, and Wisconsin after committing, ultimately deciding to flip to Wisconsin.

National Signing Day is on February 5, 2025. Between now and then, several prospects of note will undoubtedly flip commitments.
