Wisconsin issues team update, status of Saturday’s game vs. Michigan

All of those anxiously awaiting for the return of Wisconsin football got some good news on Monday.
The program released an update on the team’s status after dealing with a coronavirus outbreak. The news appears to be good as the team is down to just five active cases and athletic director Barry Alvarez said they are excited to return this weekend against Michigan.

The 2020 season was a dream start for the Badgers. Playing on a Friday night, Wisconsin steamrolled Illinois at Camp Randall.
Then, things took a turn for the worse. Rumors of positive COVID cases began swirling, including the status of quarterback Graham Mertz.
In the next few days, the team saw a spike in cases regarding both players and staff members. That ultimately led to the Nebraska game being canceled and eventually, the Purdue game.
It appears that things are starting to slow with just five active cases and zero positive cases in five of the past six days. I’m sure the folks in Madison will be watching this situation very closely. And I’m sure the players and coaches are beyond ecstatic to be back on the field and don’t want to miss any more time.
