Wisconsin’s defense just received a massive boost for 2021!
Star linebacker Jack Sanborn, the team’s leading tackler in 2019 and 2020, announced Saturday morning that he is returning for his senior season. Citing “a lot more work to do” both personally and at Wisconsin, Sanborn confirmed his return for his senior season with the Badgers.

As a junior in 2020, Sanborn led the Badgers with 52 total tackles in seven games. Sophomore linebacker Leo Chanal finished second with 46.
In 2019, Sanborn also led Wisconsin with 80 total tackles in 14 games as a sophomore. For the past two seasons, Sanborn has 132 total tackles, 13 TFL, 6.5 sacks, and four interceptions.
With Sanborn and Chanal returning and the addition of 4-star linebacker Braelon Allen with the 2021 class, Wisconsin could have an incredible defense coming back next season. Jim Leonhard already commands a formidable unit and getting Sanborn back for one more season will only improve the performance of the Badgers.
