Wisconsin makes official call on Paul Chryst’s status

Wisconsin is officially moving on from head coach Paul Chryst, the program announced in a statement Sunday evening.
Despite a better than 70% win percentage during his time with the Badgers, Chryst is out with the job in Madison opening up. It was also confirmed that defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard will be the interim head coach.

“After a heartfelt and authentic conversation with Coach Chryst about what is in the long-term best interest of our football program, I have concluded that now is the time for a change in leadership,” Wisconsin AD Chris McIntosh said via statement. “Paul is a man of integrity who loves his players. I have great respect and admiration for Paul and the legacy of him and his family at the Universityof Wisconsin.
“I also have confidence in Jim Leonhard to guide the program for the remainder of the season. There is still a lot of season left to play and I know Jim will do a great job while the program is under his leadership.”

Chryst finishes 67-26 overall at Wisconsin and is third on the program’s all-time win list. He went 6-1 in bowl games during his time with the Badgers.
