The Wisconsin Badgers are mourning the passing of a former teammate.

Nate White, a running back who transferred to South Dakota State, has passed away. Per Madison.com, details had not been released.

Badgers coach Luke Fickell released a statement remembering his former player:

News of Nate White’s tragic passing has been sad and difficult to comprehend for all of the Wisconsin Badger football family.

“We remember Nate as a friend and teammate and we stand in support of Nate’s family and loved ones.

A former Rufus King standout from Milwaukee, White joined the Badgers as a running back ahead of the 2023 season. In 2024, he made the move to wide receiver during fall camp. He did not log any game action in either season with the program.

The transfer to SDSU represented an opportunity for playing time as a running back. He was reportedly set to be the team’s starting running back this fall, coming off a strong spring showing with his new team.

White was 20 years old.
