Nebraska tried to become the first 13 seed in B1G Tournament history to advance to the semifinal round, but Wisconsin slammed the door on those hopes on Friday afternoon.

The Badgers got good production from Khalil Iverson and Nate Reuvers, who each scored 14 points in the 66-62 win over the Huskers. Brad Davison and Aleem Ford both had 11 in the victory.

All-B1G forward Ethan Happ was a non-factor in the quarterfinal contest, scoring just four points and committing seven turnovers in the game. He did have seven rebounds and four assists, but he was nowhere near his usual double-double self.

Wisconsin was never able to break away from Nebraska, though it had its chances. Midway through the first half, the Badgers built a 23-11 lead and appeared to take advantage of the Huskers’ tired legs after playing in their third game in as many days. After Nebraska closed the gap, Wisconsin built another double-digit lead, going up 34-21 with four minutes left in the first half.

The Huskers closed the half on an 8-0 run and trailed 34-29 at the half.

Wisconsin never built a lead more than seven points in the second half, allowing Nebraska to hang around. In the end, the Badgers made too many plays, including a clutch three from D’Mitrik Trice with less than a minute to play.

The Badgers will now take on Michigan State on Saturday afternoon with a trip to the B1G Tournament title game on the line.
