Wisconsin suffered some major injuries this week, and now we’re getting an idea of how serious they were.
Quarterback Graham Mertz and tight end Jake Ferguson both went down with chest injuries in the Badgers’ loss to Michigan on Saturday. Both are listed as questionable in Wisconsin’s preliminary injury report for this week’s game against Illinois.

Mertz was taken to a local hospital after the game and released later that afternoon. He completed 8 of 15 passes for 115 yards before his injury, which happened on his 3rd sack of the day. Chase Wolf came in at QB and would probably be an option if Mertz is unable to play this week against Illinois.
As for Ferguson, he has 15 receptions for 108 yards, which ranks 3rd on the team in total yards. Losing him would take away an important target in the Badgers’ passing game.
