Wisconsin QB Jack Coan admits to being banged up during the season

Wisconsin’s Jack Coan had a solid year with the Badgers, helping guide the team to a B1G West title and Rose Bowl appearance.
After the upset loss to Illinois, the Badgers played very well down the stretch. Save for a road loss to Ohio State, Wisconsin ran the table into the B1G Championship, including a season-ending dismantling of Minnesota.
For the year, Coan completed 70.1% of passes for 2,539 yards and 17 touchdowns. He saved his best stretch for the end of the season and threw for 280 yards and two scores in the rout of the Gophers.
Though Coan had a great year, he was not immune to struggles. However, part of those struggles may have been related to being a bit banged up during the season, something he admitted to on Friday.
Jeff Potrykus with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel shared Coan’s comments:
On Friday Coan finally admitted there were weeks in which he missed practice time and games in which he was limited by several physical issues.
“There were definitely some times when I felt limited, in a few different ways,” he said, unwilling to go into more detail. “Yeah, in a few different ways.”
Wisconsin’s Joe Rudolph echoed the comments made by Coan:
“His mobility wasn’t the same for some games as it was for others,” offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph said. “No question.”
Thankfully, Coan is healthy and ready to go for the Rose Bowl. Hopefully, he is able to lead the Badgers to one more win this season.
