Wisconsin has received a verbal commitment from Honolulu (Hawaii) Farrington edge rusher Anelu Lafaele.

The 3-star defender revealed his commitment live on the 247Sports YouTube channel, picking the Badgers over Washington, Arizona State, and Hawaii. He also did it with one of the more picturesque backdrops for a commitment you’ll find.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Lafaele is a 3-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite, but the in-house evaluators at 247Sports are much higher on him than their peers. In the 247 national rankings, he’s a 4-star prospect and the No. 21 edge rusher in the class.

And Lafaele continues something of a trend for UW on the island state. He played the first 3 years of high school ball for St. Louis, a school that has sent Nick Herbig, Kamo’i Latu, and Trech Kekahuna to Madison.

He took an official visit to campus on June 2 — 1 of 3 officials he took this summer. Now, he’s the 18th known pledge for the Badgers this cycle and the second out on the edge, joining South Dakota linebacker Thomas Heiberger. You can see some of Lafaele’s highlight tape below:
