Wisconsin WR coach demanded RB change positions after watching him run a route

Position changes happen for a variety of reasons. Most often it’s to balance the depth chart. Sometimes a player grows out of his position. In the case of Wisconsin freshman Isaac Guerendo, he simply played his way into a new position (his new old position to be exact).
According to Badgers beat writer Jeff Potrykus, Wisconsin WR coach Ted Gilmore saw Guerendo, working as a tailback, run a route out of the backfield and “pleaded” that the newcomer switch to wide receiver.
It shouldn’t be hard for Guerendo to switch back to his high school position. A noted speedster, Guerendo won the Indiana 100 meter sprint as a high school senior (video below). The Avon, Ind. athlete was ranked the No. 134 wide receiver in the class of 2018 by the 247Sports Composite. Gilmore was one of his Badgers recruiters.
