A.J. Taylor won’t have the opportunity to suit up for the Rose Bowl. Despite being a key piece of the Wisconsin offense during his career in Madison, the wide receiver suffered an injury in the regular season finale against Minnesota that kept him sidelined in the B1G Championship Game against Ohio State.

Taylor will be with his team in Pasadena, but his role will be a little different.

“I become a cheerleader. A big cheerleader,” Taylor told Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “But an immobile cheerleader.”

Taylor also told Potrykus that he’ll be watching the Oregon secondary throughout Wednesday’s game. His goal? To see if he can pick up on any tendencies and help his teammates out when they’re on the field.

In 12 games with the Badgers this season, Taylor hauled in 23 catches for 267 yards and two touchdowns. He also took six carries for 34 yards. For his career, Taylor totaled 1,316 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches.
