In just his second season in the NFL, T.J. Hockenson has emerged as one of the best young tight ends in the NFL. Beyond that, he might already be the best tight end in Detroit Lions history.

Hockenson, a former standout at Iowa, is closing in on a franchise record for the Lions as he is well within reach of becoming the Lions single-season receiving leader for yardage by a tight end. If his last four games are any indicator, Hockenson could and should be able to grab the record.

He has 254 receiving yards in his last four games, including 173 yards in his last two games.

The Lions took Hockenson with the eighth pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. This after a season where he had 46 receptions for 717 receiving yards with four touchdowns, earning All-Big Ten honors as well as the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end.

This year in Detroit, he has 52 receptions for 614 yards and five touchdowns.
