COVID-19 cases are rising across the country, including in Michigan. That means states are starting to tighten restrictions.
On Sunday, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced some key restrictions, including a halt to organized sports, in a three-week executive order.

Though that initial announcement may seem like it means there will be no more college sports in the interim, that is not the case. The NCAA is exempt from Whitmer’s order, which means the Michigan and Michigan State football seasons will continue.
While that might be celebrated by some, it led to some snark from one Michigan player:
At first, there didn’t appear to be much rhyme or reason to this exemption. But we soon got some clarification.
Regarding the Michigan Gov’s order: “Football will be able to continue practicing and competing since our student-athletes and staff are in a daily testing protocol. We will not be able to have individuals attend our games during this three-week executive order” —per UM spokesman

We also gained some clarity on the fan situation. Prior to this order, families could attend games. But now, they’ll be watching on TV like everyone else.
The situation is ever-evolving. This just appears to be the latest instance. Hunter Reynolds, the defensive back who responded to the news, hasn’t had much impact on Michigan’s performance on the field as he has not seen any action in 2020.
