Zach Edey leading Rookie of the Year betting after landing with Memphis
By Andrew Olson
Published:
Zach Edey had a decorated college basketball career, playing for Purdue from 2020-24. In his final two seasons, he swept the National Player of the Year awards, adding plenty of other honors to his hardware haul.
Edey’s professional career will begin in Memphis, where he’ll link up with Ja Morant and the rest of the Grizzlies. As the No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, there are high expectations for Edey to be an instant impact rookie.
With Round 1 of the draft complete (Round 2 to be held Thursday), sports bettors have reacted to the Rookie of the Year market.
BetMGM shared betting insights with Saturday Tradition showing that Edey is a popular bet to be the league’s top first-year player next season.
Edey opened with +2500 odds at BetMGM to win Rookie of the Year. Those who got in early at looking at a potential huge pay day, as a $100 wager could potentially win $2500 for a $2600 payout.
After Round 1, Edey’s ROTY odds are now +1200 at BetMGM. If the former Boilermaker were to win the award, bettors could still do well. A winning $100 bet would produce a $1300 at +1200 odds.
