Zach Edey is back for another season of basketball at Purdue and he’s already getting some early recognition.
Edey was announced as the Preseason B1G Player of the Year Friday. He sat atop a list of 10 players from around the conference.
The 7-foot-4 center averaged 22.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists last season for the Boilermakers. After losing to Farleigh-Dickinson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Purdue and Edey want more.
Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Maryland also had players make the Preseason All-B1G team. Maryland and Michigan State had multiple players make the team.

Shannon, Young, Buie, and Edey were all unanimous selections.
Purdue opens the year against Samford on Nov. 6.
