Zach Smith calls Ohio State ‘spineless’ in interview

Ex-Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith has been pretty vocal since the school’s investigation into Urban Meyer concluded.
Smith has ripped Brett McMurphy, Paul Finebaum, ESPN and other members of the media in a Twitter rampage for presenting a “one-sided” story regarding the reports of domestic violence arrests that occurred in 2009 and 2015. Now, the former wide receivers coach is targeting his former employer.
In an interview with USAToday, Smith called Ohio State “spineless” for putting the “pressure on” head coach Urban Meyer.
Last week, when Meyer learned he would be suspended for three games of the 2018 season, the head coach agreed that he was guilty of “protecting” Smith during a series of domestic abuse allegations.
“He never protected me,” Smith told USAToday. “Urban knew the truth. That’s what’s lost in all this: the truth. Everything he’s said negatively about me, that’s all on Ohio State. That’s all from the pressure they put on him to keep his job because they are spineless. That’s why they fired Jim Tressel. They are absolutely spineless and that probably come the board, the president — all of them.”
Smith was fired by Meyer on July 23 after reports of a 2015 arrest involving Smith due to a domestic violence incident.
After Ohio State conducted a two-week investigation into Meyer’s alleged knowledge of Smith’s history, the board of trustees decided to suspend the head coach for three games of the 2018 season.
