Zed Key knows that when teams are vulnerable, they attack. Is there a program more down in the dumps right now than top-ranked Purdue?

The Boilermakers are coming off a 65-64 home loss to Rutgers, ending their perfect 13-0 start. Last season, Purdue lost to the Scarlet Knights on the road before going on a 19-6 run to close out the regular season.

It’s still early enough in the B1G year to where the Boilermakers could be ready to go on another deep push, but Key understands that the Buckeyes will need to be on point if they hope to give Purdue its 2nd loss of the season.

“They’re a really good team. They’re not No. 1 for no reason,” Key told reporters Wednesday. “The game’s going to be come down to the last possession, so we’re gonna have to value the ball, play defense, and execute.”

Key currently is averaging 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 26.2 minutes per game. The No. 24 Buckeyes are coming off 3 straight wins, including a conference victory over Northwestern.

Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann told reporters earlier in the afternoon that he’s expecting an A-game effort from Purdue in its 4th conference matchup. For the Buckeyes, it’s about playing complementary ball and keeping the competitive edge at an all-time high.

The Buckeyes will tip off at 7 p.m. ET at Value City Arena. The game will be nationally televised on FS1.
