Ezekiel Elliott reminded the world why he’s a Heisman Trophy candidate with his career performance on Saturday.
The Buckeye tailback broke off touchdown runs of 55, 65 and 75 yards to lift No. 1 Ohio State to a 34-27 victory in Bloomington to kick off B1G play.
As a result, the oddsmakers gave him a boost. Elliott climbed to third in the Heisman Trophy odds, according to Bovada. Elliott’s odds to win the Heisman are 9-to-1. The Buckeye back was behind only LSU running back Leonard Fournette (-200) and Baylor quarterback Seth Russell (+800).
Elliott, who is currently fifth in the country in rushing, wasn’t the only B1G player with Heisman odds. Despite his rough start, Cardale Jones is still 12th in the voting with 40-to-1 odds. After the season opener, Jones was the favorite but his odds have dropped significantly.
Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook came in right behind Jones with 60-to-1 odds.
Here’s how the top 15 in Bovada’s odds look after five weeks:
Leonard Fournette, LSU RB: -200
Seth Russell, Baylor QB: +800
