Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark provided more theater for a national TV audience on Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis.

The rivalry between Reese, the former LSU star, and Clark, the Iowa basketball legend, has been well-documented over the past few years. Reese now plays for the WNBA’s Chicago Sky while Clark has become a fixture on the Indiana Fever, and Saturday marked the 5th matchup between the intense players since they entered the WNBA last season.

While the 2 stars made nice before Saturday’s game started, shaking hands and showing each other respect, once the game started, it was back to business. In the third quarter, that business got testy between the 2 players yet again when Clark shoved Reese to the floor after Reese had grabbed a rebound and went strong to the basket.

After a common foul was initially called on the chippy play, it was ultimately reviewed and upgraded to a Flagrant 1 foul. The hard play by Clark was called common on the floor before being upgraded afterward

Here is the controversial play that will be talked about for a while, considering the history:

The rivalry between Reese and Clark goes back to their college days and specifically the 2023 NCAA title game. That’s when Reese, then playing for LSU, gave Clark the “you can’t see me” hand gesture during the final moments of the Tigers’ championship victory over Clark’s Iowa team.

On Saturday, Clark was getting the last laugh, as the Fever were busy blowing out the Sky in front of their home fans. Despite the soon-to-be lopsided final score (the Fever led by 30 with 4:24 left), most WNBA fans will only be talking about 1 play from the game that provided yet another chapter of the Reese-Clark rivalry.
