Former USC great Mark Sanchez has been hospitalized with “severe” injuries after he was stabbed in Indianapolis early Saturday morning, according to a report.

TMZ Sports was first to share that news on Saturday afternoon. Per the report, police received a call to downtown Indianapolis just after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday morning regarding the incident.

TMZ’s report cites a source who said Sanchez was “rushed” to the hospital in “critical condition.”

At this time, other details regarding the incident are not yet known.

Sanchez was scheduled to be in the booth for FOX’s call of Sunday’s NFL game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Colts.

Sanchez was a standout performer at USC before moving on to a pro career that included 2 AFC Championship Game appearances with the New York Jets. Sanchez led the Pac-10 with 34 touchdown passes in 2008, which was his best season in college football.

Sanchez began his media career after retiring from the NFL and has been with FOX since 2021. In addition to calling games for FOX, he also regularly appears on FS1 broadcasts and studio shows.

Update — FOX announced at 1:49 p.m. ET on Saturday that Sanchez is now in “stable” condition.
