An Arkansas running back will be heading to the Midwest to continue his college football career.

Northwestern received a verbal commitment from 3-star running back Joseph Himon II over the weekend, becoming the 14th player to join the Wildcats’ 2022 class. He held offers from 15 other programs, picking Northwestern over Power 5 offers from Louisville, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Kansas and Miami.

“I would like to thank every coach that has been a part of my life and coached me hard so that I could get to where I am right now,” Himon wrote. “This journey is far from over! With that being said for the next 3-4 years I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Northwestern University!”

Himon is listed as a 5-foot-9, 175-pound running back out of Little Rock. He ranks as the No. 11 prospect from his home state and is one of the Top 75 running backs in the 2022 recruiting cycle. His numbers at Pulaski Academy have been quite impressive.

During the 2020 season, Himon rushed for 1,925 yards and 23 touchdowns while also totaling 1,068 receiving yards and 9 touchdown catches. His contributions were a major part of a 13-0 season and an Arkansas 5A state title last fall.

Himon rushed for 1,300 yards, totaled 738 receiving yards and accounted for 21 total touchdowns during a 12-2 campaign in 2019. Pulaski Academy won a state championship that season, as well.

With the recent pledge from Himon, Northwestern’s 2022 class ranks No. 31 nationally and No. 7 in the B1G.
