The Wildcats pulled off a remarkable comeback in the Holiday Bowl, and Clayton Thorson did not shy away when asked about what’s in store for Northwestern moving forward.

It took a while for Northwestern to wake up in the showdown with Utah. A number of miscues and missed opportunities plagued the Wildcats as they managed just three points before halftime.

Fortunately, the defense turned up the pressure with four turnovers in the third quarter. That allowed Pat Fitzgerald’s squad to score 28-unanswered points for a 31-20 lead.

From there, Northwestern cruised the rest of the way to end the season on a high note. When asked about the future, Thorson said it’s all up for the program:

“It’s only up from here,” said Thorson. “We went to the B1G Championship this year. I feel like we laid the groundwork for national titles in the future.”

FOX College Football shared Thorson’s postgame comments:

While that may be hard for some to envision, Fitzgerald and the Wildcats continue to prove skeptics wrong. Fans will just have to wait and see if Northwestern truly can take another step forward in 2019.
