Duke Olges, Northwestern DL, hauls in receiving TD vs. Iowa

Duke Olges might have a role with Northwestern’s offense moving forward after the hands he displayed on this play.
According to the Wildcat roster, Olges is a junior defensive lineman out of Winnetka, Illinois. However, he was utilized as a tight end in the second half vs. Iowa.
Facing a 4th-and-goal against the Hawkeyes, the Wildcats positioned Olges at the end of the line. It started as a play-action pass from the one-yard line with Olges holding his block at the snap.
Then, he leaked into the end zone. Iowa’s coverage picked up on the release but was late in rotating as Olges held onto the ball through the contact for his first career touchdown.

While Iowa leads the game in the fourth quarter, we’ll have to wait and see if Olges’ performance nets him more snaps on the offensive side of the ball.
