ESPN’s FPI is predicting the matchups in college football’s bowl season, and that includes a Saturday matchup in primetime between Northwestern and Utah.

On Dec. 23, the two sides will face off in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl inside Allegiant Stadium. That game will be broadcast on ABC, and the matchup is tilted in favor of Utah.

The Utes head into the game as a 7.5-point favorite with an over/under of 42.5 for the matchup. ESPN’s FPI also likes Utah, giving Kyle Whittingham’s program a 77.2% chance of coming away with the win. Fans looking to get in on the action can head to ESPN Bet to get started.

Being an underdog is nothing new for the Wildcats, but it has not slowed down Northwestern this season. The program is 7-5 and entering its first bowl game under David Braun, the interim coach to begin the season who has since been given the full-time job.

Historically, the two sides have met 3 times, and Northwestern holds the all-time edge 2-1. The most recent meeting came in 2018, a 31-20 Northwestern win in the Holiday Bowl while Pat Fitzgerald was leading the program.

We’ll see if Northwestern can get an 8th win on the season and Braun’s first bowl win as a head coach come Saturday.
