Former standout receiver at Kansas announces transfer to Northwestern
Northwestern’s receiving corps is catching a boost this offseason, thanks to the NCAA transfer portal.
The Wildcats have picked up a commitment from former Kansas wide receiver Stephon Robinson Jr., who made his announcement on Friday afternoon. He will be a fifth-year senior at Northwestern during the 2021 season. Robinson’s announcement was made via his Twitter account.

Robinson only appeared in 3 games for the Jayhawks during the 2020 season due to injury. He had just 2 catches for 35 yards.
But prior to the 2020 season, Robinson has proven to be an effective receiver in the previous two seasons at Kansas. In 2019, he ranked second on the team in catches (45) receiving yards (727) and led the Jayhawks in touchdown grabs (8). Over the course of his three seasons in Lawrence, Robinson has totaled 75 catches for 1,092 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Prior to his time at Kansas, Robinson spent one year at El Camino Community College, where he totaled 1,274 yards and 8 touchdowns on 62 receptions.
Northwestern will need help at wide receiver during the 2021 season, as leading receiver Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman announced he will pursue the NFL Draft. He led the Wildcats in every category with 41 catches, 508 yards and 5 touchdowns.
The Wildcats were 7-2 in 2020.
