Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald took some time to troll ESPN’s Joey Galloway after the Wildcats’ big win over Wisconsin on Saturday.
Earlier in the week, Galloway insulted the Wildcats’ athleticism by comparing them to ESPN host Rece Davis.
“Honestly, they’ve got a bunch of Rece Davises running around out there,” Galloway said.
Fitzgerald — and the players themselves, apparently, took exception.
“I mean, that really ticked guys off, I’m not gonna lie to you,” Fitzgerald said after the win. “It was, I thought, incredibly disrespectful. I just talked to the guys about putting fuel in their engine, man. Just use that as fuel in the engine and just go out and play the way we’re capable.
“We’ve got really, really good football players. We’ve got outstanding football players, in my opinion. We’ve got a bunch of guys who are going to be potentially All-Big Ten, potentially All-American and potentially in the NFL.”
Galloway did respond to the criticism on Twitter.
I appreciate you watching the show, Coach. Congrats on the win. https://t.co/3xRJg2JNTe
